Project Description

This year’s TM Festival was the culmination of a week of special activities which focused on the environment. TM Green Festival took place on Saturday 28th March at TM Kedoya. After a week of very rainy mornings we were delighted to see that our Festival day was bright and sunny! During Environment Week our pre primary and primary children had learned a lot about a variety of aspects of the environment and what we can each do to protect our world. The TM Green Festival was designed to put this learning into action.

We opened with an environmental story portrayed in an amazing flashmob dance choreographed by Ms Bella and Ms Nancy. It was a challenge to practise with children in 2 different schools and the rainy mornings that week made it even harder, but assisted by Ms Gill at Metuya, our talented dance team did an amazing job and produced a most memorable start to the Festival. After Ibu Indra’s
inspirational prayer, the audience was entertained by songs and dances, and inspirational environmental speeches given confidently by Year 5 students Kezia, Matthew and Aby. Our Year 6 MCs, Lina and Devyn, guided us through the entertainment programme. Inside school was a variety of environmental activities prepared by our fabulous teachers. From planting our own terrarium to fridge magnet making to a computer quiz, our children had a great learning experience. Our visiting storyteller was very entertaining and our Year 5 mini theatre showed fabulous films and prezis made by our students. Our teeny tots made yummy worm puddings! The busiest place was the face painting and nail art area where our talented team worked non stop to decorate the faces and nails of our excited children!

There was a slide show of more than 100 Family Pledges made by TM families and a display of amazing photographs entered in our Photo Competition. Many thanks to our judges, Pak Wijaya, Pak Sonnef and Pak Udik who had a very hard time choosing the winning photos. Congratulations to our winners.
Many thanks to Bank Sampah, Happy Trash and Ms Arnelis for inspiring our children and to Envi Plast for sponsoring the environmentally friendly bags for our cactuses. Many thanks also to our Parents Associations for the food and drink stalls!

A huge thank you to our teachers and staff who worked so hard to make the TM Green Festival such a memorable and fun learning experience and to all families who came and enjoyed the day! Remember to take care of your souvenir cactus!
